Midsection

The midsection is the heartbeat of the band! Bass drum instruction will include reading pipe band bass drum scores, how to wear and adjust the harness for comfort, properly holding the beaters, where and how to hit the drum head, tuning the bass drum, blending with the band for proper ensemble (performance vs parade), competing with a band or solo, etc. Tenor instruction will include how to read a tenor score with flourishing, how to wear a sling and hook up your tenor drum, how to choose and hold the mallets, proper lacing for comfort, rhythm vs flourishing, keeping the laces from tangling, flourishing while playing vs marching, competing with a band or solo, etc.

We will have sectional and group classes as well as go outside for marching exercises and taking instruction from the Drum Major, then come back inside for a ceilidh!

If you are an experienced midsection player we would love for you to join us! Your input is valuable to getting the next generation properly prepared!
