
Highland dance instruction is for children and adults absolute beginner to ready-to-start-competing. The class will cover basic Highland dance positions, musicality, tempo, the Highland Fling, with history and stories behind the dances.

Melissa Richert began her love of Highland Dance since the age of 3 when my parents put her in her first dance class. At the age of 5 she began attending piping school with her family in the mountains of North Carolina and took up the duel role of piping and dancing. Melissa has been teaching for over 35 years and is a member of BATD and ScotDance USA. Melissa currently resides in Slidell, Louisiana with her husband Craig, 2 children and 2 dogs. Her daughter was a competitive Highland Dancer and will be attending William Carey to become a Doctor of Physical Therapy and her son is at LSU majoring in Mechanical Engineering. She loves teaching and passing along the love of dance and all thing Scottish!
