Scottish Snare

Scottish snare playing has many differences as well as some similarities to American Rudimental or DCI Snare Styles. In our classes you will be taught to read a pipe band snare score, hold the sticks and play in the Scottish style, highlighting the differences to American Rudimental approach, rudiments and understanding shorthand notation, different pipe band song styles and their approach on the snare, and the section’s role as a corps with lead and unison parts. We will also focus on some gear issues, both maintenance and repair for drums and harnesses.

Snare students will work in sectional as well as group classes.

At the end of the day we will go outside for marching exercises and taking direction from the drum major then come back inside for a ceilidh!
